3-5 Year Olds (Munchkins)
Oak Crest provides specialized programs for 3 to 5-year-olds in our Munchkin Division, ensuring a high level of attention and care with a low camper-to-staff ratio. Each group consists of 10 to 12 campers guided by 3 to 4 staff members, placing a strong emphasis on safety and nurturing.
One of the key focuses of our Munchkin Program is teaching kids to swim. We are dedicated to building their confidence and proficiency in the water. Moreover, this program goes beyond swimming, incorporating a variety of activities that help improve gross and fine motor skills. Specially trained Munchkin Specialists lead these activities to create an age-appropriate and enriching experience for your child.
Explorers (1st and 2nd Graders)
Explorers, just like Munchkins, participate in a variety of athletic and creative activities aimed at improving their swimming abilities and nurturing their social and emotional intelligence. As they advance through the program, first graders have the opportunity to explore thrilling activities like the Climbing Tower, Zipline, Giant Swing, and GAGA. In second grade, campers get to enjoy CHOICE periods, allowing them to choose their preferred activities on a weekly basis, tailoring their experiences to their personal interests.
Juniors (3rd & 4th Graders)
The Juniors at Oak Crest experience a diverse array of activities, encompassing Archery, Mountain Biking, Lacrosse, High Ropes, BMX, Skatepark, and Camper vs. Wild. Their program is designed to provide a well-rounded mix of athletic and creative pursuits, including Instructional Swim and access to the Climbing Tower.
In addition to these activities, Juniors get to savor special moments like Late Nights, which extend their camp access. During these Late Nights, they enjoy a special dinner, extra swim time, engaging games, a unique event, and a twilight campfire complete with delicious S’mores. It’s a program that ensures a memorable and enriching summer experience for your child.
Seniors (5th & 6th Graders)
Senior campers at Oak Crest have the opportunity to immerse themselves in a comprehensive camp experience. This includes participating in all camp activities, embarking on thrilling day trips to places like Dorney Park, and accessing a wide array of advanced Choice options tailored to their interests.
As part of their experience, Senior Late Nights add an extra layer of excitement. These evenings provide extended camp hours, a special dinner, additional swim time, engaging games, a unique event, and a twilight campfire with the delightful addition of S’mores. These enriching opportunities ensure that senior campers have a well-rounded and memorable summer at Oak Crest.
Teen Travel (7th, 8th, & 9th Graders)
During the Choice period at Oak Crest, campers have the freedom to pick an activity they’d like to engage in for the week. This flexibility allows them to explore a new choice each week, as we constantly update our list of available activities.
In addition to a wide range of athletic and creative options, our Senior campers have the opportunity to take part in our annual Drama Production or join in our special Dance routine, known as Showcrest. These performances are a highlight of our camp’s annual events, and the Senior campers play a significant role in making them truly special and memorable.
Social Development
At Oak Crest, our camp counselors play a pivotal role in guiding groups of campers through a series of team-building challenges and competitions. These activities are not just about having fun; they are designed to cultivate important values such as teamwork, support, and effective communication among campers.
Our structured environment serves as a breeding ground for respect and the formation of lifelong friendships. We take a strong stance against bullying and have a zero-tolerance policy in place. Our commitment is to create a nurturing atmosphere where children and young teens can grow and develop essential emotional and social skills, ensuring a safe and caring environment for all.
LIT Program (10th & 11th Graders)
The LIT (Leaders-in-Training) Experience is a unique opportunity for 9th, 10th, or 11th graders to develop essential leadership skills in a hands-on and dynamic setting. This program is designed to not only benefit the participants but also enhance the overall camp experience for younger campers.
During the LIT program, participants are immersed in activities that promote problem-solving, role modeling, and teamwork. These aspects of the program are geared towards instilling a sense of responsibility and nurturing qualities that are essential for future success in college and career pursuits. Additionally, it equips LITs with the skills and qualities needed to potentially excel as outstanding camp staff members in the future.
