Oak Crest Day Camp, located near 08820 in NJ, is the ultimate summer destination for children aged 3 to 15. The camp stands out for its convenience, providing door-to-door transportation for many families, making it an ideal choice for busy parents. For younger campers, there’s a plethora of activities to choose from, including swimming, biking, rock climbing, and arts and crafts. These activities ensure that children have a summer filled with both fun and learning. As children grow, they can take part in specialized programs like special day trips and overnight excursions, perfect for those seeking adventure and independence. These activities go beyond mere enjoyment; they’re about building lifelong skills. Whether your child wants to learn to swim, master biking, or develop social, teamwork, and leadership skills, Oak Crest provides a supportive and dynamic environment to achieve these goals.
Recognizing the demands of modern family life, Oak Crest Day Camp offers flexible scheduling options, including early enrollment and late drop-off services. 3-5 Year Olds (Munchkins)
Oak Crest provides two program options for 3 to 5-year-olds in our Munchkin Division, a 5 full-day and a 3 full-day program. We maintain a low camper-to-staff ratio, ensuring personalized attention and safety. Each group consists of 10 to 12 campers supervised by 3 to 4 staff members who prioritize nurturing care.
One of our key focuses in the Munchkin Program is teaching children how to swim. We put dedicated efforts into building their comfort and proficiency in the water. Additionally, our program enhances gross and fine motor skills through a variety of athletic and creative activities. These activities are led by specially trained Munchkin Specialists who ensure that the experience is age-appropriate and enriching for your child.
Explorers (1st and 2nd Graders)
Just like our Munchkin campers, Explorers participate in a range of athletic and creative activities, focusing on improving their swimming skills while also developing their social and emotional intelligence.
For first graders, we introduce exciting activities such as the Climbing Tower, Zipline, Giant Swing, and GAGA. These experiences add an element of adventure and challenge to their camp journey.
As campers enter second grade, they have the opportunity to personalize their experience through CHOICE periods. Each week, they can select their preferred activities, tailoring their time at camp to their individual interests and preferences. This approach ensures that our second-grade campers have a truly engaging and enjoyable experience at Oak Crest.
Juniors (3rd & 4th Graders)
The Junior program at Oak Crest offers a diverse array of activities, ensuring a well-rounded experience for campers. These activities include Archery, Mountain Biking, Lacrosse, High Ropes, BMX, Skatepark, and Camper vs. Wild.
Our program for Juniors is designed to be both physically engaging and creatively stimulating. It includes a dedicated period for Instructional Swim to enhance swimming skills and access to the Climbing Tower, adding an element of adventure to their camp days.
Additionally, Juniors get to enjoy Late Nights, where they have extended camp access. This includes a special dinner, extra swim time, exciting games, a unique event, and a memorable twilight campfire complete with delicious S’mores. These experiences make the Junior program at Oak Crest truly unforgettable for our campers.
Seniors (5th & 6th Graders)
Senior campers at Oak Crest have the opportunity to fully immerse themselves in all the camp activities available, making the most of their camp experience. In addition to the regular camp activities, they also get to enjoy a multitude of exciting day trips, including visits to places like Dorney Park, adding an element of adventure to their summer.
What sets the Senior program apart is the wide range of advanced Choice offerings. This means that seniors can tailor their camp experience to their individual interests and preferences, making each week unique and engaging.
Senior Late Nights are a highlight for our campers, offering extended camp time with special dinners, extra swim sessions, fun games, a unique event, and a memorable twilight campfire complete with delicious S’mores. These Late Nights create lasting memories and add an extra layer of enjoyment to the senior camp experience at Oak Crest.
Teen Travel (7th, 8th, & 9th Graders)
During our Choice periods, campers have the opportunity to pick an activity of their choice for the week. This means that every week, campers can explore a new and evolving list of activities that cater to their interests.
In addition to the wide range of athletic and creative activities available, Senior campers have the option to take part in our annual Drama Production or participate in a special Dance routine, which collectively make up what we call Showcrest.
It’s worth noting that the Senior campers’ participation in both the Drama and Dance productions consistently steals the show, making it a highlight of the annual event.
Social Development
At Oak Crest, our camp counselors take on a crucial role in guiding campers through various team-building challenges and competitions. This focus on teamwork not only encourages collaboration but also fosters a sense of support and open communication among campers.
We’ve created a structured environment that promotes mutual respect and the formation of lifelong friendships. Our commitment to maintaining a zero-tolerance policy for bullying ensures that Oak Crest is a safe and caring space where children and young teens can grow and develop essential emotional and social skills, setting a strong foundation for their future interactions and relationships.
LIT Program (10th & 11th Graders)
The LIT (Leadership in Training) Experience is a specialized program designed to provide older campers, typically in 9th, 10th, or 11th grade, with valuable hands-on leadership skill development. In this dynamic setting, participants actively engage in activities that enhance the overall camp experience for younger campers.
The primary focus of the LIT program is to instill important qualities such as problem-solving, effective role modeling, and teamwork among the participants. Emphasizing responsibility, this program aims to equip LITs with skills and qualities that will benefit them not only in their future academic and professional pursuits but also in potential roles as outstanding camp staff members. This program sets the stage for the personal growth and leadership development of these older campers.
