As children grow, they have the opportunity to participate in specialized programs, including special day trips and overnight excursions. These adventures are perfect for those craving a bit of thrill and independence. Importantly, these activities aren’t just about enjoyment; they are also about developing lifelong skills. 3-5 Year Olds (Munchkins)
Oak Crest offers two programs for 3 to 5-year-olds in our Munchkin Division: a 5 full-day program and a 3 full-day program. These programs are designed to ensure that each child receives individualized attention, maintaining a low camper-to-staff ratio of 10 to 12 campers with 3 to 4 staff members. Our primary focus is on safety and providing nurturing care.
One key highlight of the Munchkin Program is our dedication to teaching children to swim. We place special emphasis on building their comfort and proficiency in the water. To achieve this, our specially trained Munchkin Specialists lead a variety of age-appropriate activities that not only enhance swimming skills but also improve gross and fine motor skills. These activities encompass both athletic and creative pursuits, creating a well-rounded and enriching experience for your child.
Explorers (1st and 2nd Graders)
Just like our Munchkin campers, our Explorers also participate in a variety of athletic and creative activities. They focus on improving their swimming skills and developing important social and emotional intelligence.
For first graders, we introduce exciting experiences like the Climbing Tower, Zipline, Giant Swing, and the fun game of GAGA.
As campers enter the second grade, they have the opportunity to personalize their camp experience with CHOICE periods. Each week, they can select their preferred activities, allowing them to tailor their time at camp to their specific interests and preferences.
Juniors (3rd & 4th Graders)
The Juniors at Oak Crest participate in a diverse array of activities, offering them a well-rounded and exciting camp experience. These activities include Archery, Mountain Biking, Lacrosse, High Ropes, BMX, Skatepark, and the thrilling Camper vs. Wild program.
Their daily program combines both athletic and creative pursuits, ensuring that they have the opportunity to explore a wide range of interests. Additionally, Juniors benefit from Instructional Swim sessions to enhance their swimming skills and have access to the Climbing Tower for adventurous challenges.
As a special treat, Juniors get to enjoy Late Nights, which extend their camp access. These evenings include a special dinner, extra swim time, engaging games, a unique event, and a twilight campfire complete with delicious S’mores. It’s an exciting and memorable part of their Oak Crest experience.
Seniors (5th & 6th Graders)
Senior campers at Oak Crest have the opportunity to fully immerse themselves in a wide range of camp activities. In addition to the standard camp experiences, they can look forward to engaging in thrilling day trips to places like Dorney Park, adding an extra layer of excitement to their summer.
What sets the Senior program apart is the variety of advanced Choice offerings available. These options allow seniors to explore and dive deeper into their specific interests and passions, making their camp experience more personalized and rewarding.
Like our Juniors, Senior campers also get to enjoy Senior Late Nights, an extra dose of fun and bonding. These evenings include extended camp time, a special dinner, additional swim sessions, exciting games, a unique event, and a cozy twilight campfire featuring delicious S’mores. It’s a memorable part of their Oak Crest adventure.
Teen Travel (7th, 8th, & 9th Graders)
At Oak Crest, we offer a unique opportunity called Choice, where campers can choose an activity to engage in for a week. This means that every week, our campers have the freedom to explore a new activity from a constantly evolving list of options.
Our Senior campers, in particular, have even more choices at their disposal. Apart from a wide range of athletic and creative activities, they can also opt to play a role in our annual Drama Production or take part in a special Dance routine, collectively known as Showcrest.
It’s worth noting that the participation of our Senior campers in both the Drama and Dance productions is always a highlight of the show, adding an extra layer of talent and enthusiasm to these exciting annual events.
Social Development
At Oak Crest, our camp counselors play a pivotal role in guiding campers through various team-building challenges and friendly competitions. These activities are carefully designed to nurture essential skills like teamwork, support, and effective communication.
Our camp provides a structured and safe environment where campers learn to respect one another and form lifelong friendships. We take a strong stance against bullying, maintaining a zero-tolerance policy. Our commitment lies in creating a nurturing atmosphere where children and young teens have the opportunity to develop crucial emotional and social skills that will serve them well throughout their lives.
LIT Program (10th & 11th Graders)
The LIT (Leadership in Training) Experience is designed to provide a practical and dynamic environment for 9th, 10th, or 11th graders to develop essential leadership skills. This program is centered around enhancing the overall camp experience for younger campers through hands-on learning.
LIT participants delve into problem-solving, positive role modeling, and teamwork. These core aspects of the program instill a sense of responsibility in our LITs, with the ultimate goal of preparing them for future success in both their academic pursuits and future careers. Additionally, this experience can pave the way for them to become exceptional camp staff, contributing positively to the camp community.
