3-5 Year Olds (Munchkins)
Oak Crest offers two distinct programs, catering to 3 to 5-year-olds in our Munchkin Division. These programs, a 5 full-day and a 3 full-day option, prioritize providing personalized attention by maintaining a low camper-to-staff ratio. In each group, there are 10 to 12 campers, ensuring that every child receives focused care from 3 to 4 staff members, with a strong emphasis on safety and nurturing.
One of the core focuses of the Munchkin Program is swimming. We believe in equipping children with essential water skills and ensuring their comfort and proficiency in aquatic environments. This emphasis on swimming is coupled with a holistic approach to child development. Through a variety of athletic and creative activities, all guided by specially trained Munchkin Specialists, children not only improve their swimming abilities but also enhance their gross and fine motor skills. This well-rounded approach ensures an age-appropriate and enriching experience for your child.
Explorers (1st and 2nd Graders)
Explorers, much like our Munchkins, actively participate in a range of athletic and creative activities. They not only work on improving their swimming skills but also focus on fostering social and emotional intelligence, promoting a well-rounded development.
For first graders, we introduce exciting elements such as the Climbing Tower, Zipline, Giant Swing, and the popular game GAGA. These activities add an adventurous dimension to their camp experience, encouraging physical and mental growth.
As campers progress to the second grade, they enjoy CHOICE periods, a unique feature of our program. This allows them to select their preferred activities on a weekly basis, tailoring their experiences to their individual interests and preferences. This personalized approach ensures that every child can fully engage and immerse themselves in the aspects of camp that resonate most with them.
Juniors (3rd & 4th Graders)
The Junior program at Oak Crest is packed with diverse and engaging activities to keep the young campers excited and active. These activities encompass a broad spectrum, including Archery, Mountain Biking, Lacrosse, High Ropes, BMX, Skatepark, and Camper vs. Wild.
Within this comprehensive program, we ensure that the Juniors have access to both athletic and creative activities, providing a balanced approach to their development. Additionally, our program includes dedicated Instructional Swim sessions to enhance their swimming skills and offers access to the thrilling Climbing Tower.
But the excitement doesn’t stop there! Juniors also get to enjoy Late Nights, which extend their camp experience. This includes special dinners, extra swim time, engaging games, unique events, and a memorable twilight campfire with S’mores. We aim to make their time at Oak Crest both educational and incredibly fun.
Seniors (5th & 6th Graders)
Senior campers at Oak Crest are in for an action-packed summer experience. They have the opportunity to engage in all the camp activities, providing them with a well-rounded and enriching program.
In addition to the regular camp activities, our Senior campers get to embark on multiple exciting day trips, including visits to thrilling destinations like Dorney Park. These trips add an element of adventure and exploration to their summer.
Furthermore, our Senior campers have access to a wide range of advanced Choice offerings. This allows them to customize their camp experience by selecting activities that align with their individual interests and preferences, promoting personal growth and skill development.
As part of the Senior Late Nights, campers get to extend their camp time, enjoying special dinners, extra swim sessions, engaging games, unique events, and a memorable twilight campfire complete with delicious S’mores. We strive to create a memorable and well-rounded summer experience for our Senior campers.
Teen Travel (7th, 8th, & 9th Graders)
At Oak Crest, we offer our campers a unique opportunity called “Choice.” This allows them to pick a specific activity to engage in for a week, and each week, they can select a new Choice from a rotating list of activities.
These activities encompass a wide range of options, including both athletic and creative pursuits. But what sets our program apart is that Seniors have the chance to take on more specialized roles. They can choose to participate in our annual Drama Production or be part of our special Dance routine, collectively known as “Showcrest.”
The Senior campers’ involvement in both the Drama and Dance productions is a highlight of our annual show, showcasing their talents and creativity, and it’s something they can look forward to each year.
Social Development
At Oak Crest, our dedicated camp counselors play a pivotal role in guiding campers through a series of team-building challenges and friendly competitions. Through these activities, we aim to cultivate essential life skills such as teamwork, communication, and mutual support.
We prioritize creating a structured environment that not only encourages skill development but also promotes respect among campers. This environment serves as a breeding ground for the formation of lifelong friendships.
Furthermore, Oak Crest maintains a zero-tolerance policy for bullying. We are steadfastly committed to fostering a caring and nurturing environment where children and young teenagers can grow emotionally and socially while feeling safe and supported throughout their camp experience.
LIT Program (10th & 11th Graders)
The LIT (Leadership-in-Training) Experience at Oak Crest is a unique program designed for 9th, 10th, and 11th graders. It offers a hands-on approach to developing leadership skills in a dynamic camp setting, with a specific focus on enhancing the overall camp experience for younger campers.
During this program, participants engage in activities and challenges that encourage problem-solving, role modeling, and teamwork. These essential skills are central to the LIT curriculum, emphasizing a sense of responsibility among participants. The goal is to prepare LITs not only for future success in college and careers but also to equip them with the qualities needed to become exceptional camp staff in the future. It’s a comprehensive and practical program that aims to shape the leaders of tomorrow.
