At Oak Crest, we offer two distinct programs for 3 to 5-year-olds in our Munchkin Division, designed with a strong emphasis on personalized attention and safety.
The 5 full-day and 3 full-day programs are carefully structured to maintain a low camper-to-staff ratio, ensuring that each child receives the individualized care they deserve. Our groups consist of 10 to 12 campers, supervised by a team of 3 to 4 staff members, all dedicated to prioritizing safety and providing nurturing care.
One of the core focuses of our Munchkin Program is teaching children to swim. We understand the importance of water safety, and our dedicated efforts are geared towards building comfort and proficiency in the water. Our specially trained Munchkin Specialists lead these swimming sessions, ensuring that the experience is age-appropriate and enriching.
But our commitment to your child’s development doesn’t stop at swimming. Our program also includes a wide range of athletic and creative activities that help enhance gross and fine motor skills. These activities are thoughtfully designed to provide a well-rounded experience for your child, helping them grow and thrive in a fun and engaging environment.
Explorers, just like our Munchkins, participate in a variety of activities that promote physical and creative development while also focusing on improving their swimming abilities and nurturing their social and emotional intelligence.
In the first grade, our young campers are introduced to exciting elements such as the Climbing Tower, Zipline, Giant Swing, and GAGA, adding an element of adventure to their camp experience. These activities are not only thrilling but also serve as opportunities for personal growth.
As campers progress to the second grade, they have the chance to customize their experience through CHOICE periods. This unique feature allows them to select their preferred activities on a weekly basis, tailoring their camp experience to their individual interests and preferences. This personalized approach ensures that every child can fully engage and enjoy their time at camp while continuing to develop valuable skills and experiences.
The Junior campers at Oak Crest are offered a diverse array of activities that encompass both athletic and creative pursuits. These activities include Archery, Mountain Biking, Lacrosse, High Ropes, BMX, Skatepark, and the exciting Camper vs. Wild program.
In addition to these engaging activities, their program also includes structured sessions of Instructional Swim to enhance their swimming skills. Furthermore, they have access to the Climbing Tower, providing them with opportunities to build confidence and physical prowess.
As an added bonus, Junior campers get to enjoy special events known as Late Nights. During these extended camp hours, they partake in a variety of enjoyable activities, such as an extra swim session, games, and a special dinner. This culminates in a memorable twilight campfire experience complete with delicious S’mores. These Late Nights are designed to create lasting memories and foster a sense of camaraderie among campers.
Senior campers at Oak Crest are in for an action-packed summer. They have the opportunity to participate in all of the camp’s activities, ensuring a well-rounded experience. Additionally, they can look forward to a series of thrilling day trips, including visits to places like Dorney Park, adding an extra layer of excitement to their summer adventure.
For those looking to explore their interests further, the Senior campers have access to a wide variety of advanced Choice offerings. These choices allow them to tailor their camp experience to align with their personal preferences and passions, making each week a unique and engaging one.
To make their summer even more memorable, Senior campers get to enjoy Senior Late Nights. These special evenings extend their camp time, offering a chance to bond with peers over a special dinner, additional swim time, and entertaining games. The night culminates in a one-of-a-kind event and a twilight campfire complete with the classic camp treat, S’mores. These Late Nights provide a sense of camaraderie and create cherished memories for our Senior campers.
At Oak Crest, we value individual choice and personal growth. During the Choice period, campers have the freedom to select an activity that aligns with their interests and preferences for that week. This provides campers with the opportunity to explore new activities regularly, as our list of options is constantly evolving.
In addition to our wide range of athletic and creative activities, our Senior campers have the chance to take on special roles in our annual Drama Production or participate in a unique Dance routine, collectively known as Showcrest. The Senior participants in both the Drama and Dance productions are the highlight of the show, showcasing their talents and creativity on stage. This allows our campers to not only enjoy the camp experience but also actively contribute to the vibrant artistic and creative culture at Oak Crest.
At Oak Crest, our camp counselors play a vital role in guiding campers through team-building challenges and competitions. These activities are designed to nurture important qualities such as teamwork, mutual support, and effective communication. In this structured environment, campers not only have fun but also learn valuable life skills that promote respect and foster the development of lasting friendships.
We take our commitment to the well-being of our campers seriously. That’s why Oak Crest has a zero-tolerance policy for bullying. Our primary goal is to create a nurturing and safe environment where children and young teenagers can flourish. By emphasizing emotional and social skill development, we ensure that campers not only have a memorable summer but also leave with the essential tools needed for success in life.
The LIT (Leadership-in-Training) Experience is a program tailored for campers in 9th, 10th, or 11th grade, offering them a unique opportunity to develop essential leadership skills in a dynamic setting. This program is designed to enrich the camp experience for younger campers while equipping LIT participants with valuable life skills.
Throughout the LIT program, participants concentrate on honing their problem-solving abilities, perfecting their role modeling skills, and fostering teamwork. These skills are not only vital for success at camp but also serve as a strong foundation for their future endeavors in college and their careers.
One of the key focal points of the LIT program is instilling a sense of responsibility in participants. By emphasizing this trait, we aim to prepare LITs for a future where they can excel both personally and professionally. Additionally, we believe that the skills acquired in the LIT program can potentially lead to outstanding roles as camp staff, allowing these individuals to make a positive impact on the camp community and the campers they serve.
