For our younger campers, there are opportunities to immerse themselves in activities such as swimming, bicycling, rock climbing, and arts and crafts, ensuring a summer filled with both enjoyment and educational experiences.
As children progress in age, they can delve into more specialized programs, including special day trips and overnight excursions, perfect for those seeking adventure and fostering independence. These activities go beyond mere entertainment, serving as a platform for building lifelong skills. 3-5 Year Olds (Munchkins)
Oak Crest offers specialized programs catering to 3 to 5-year-olds in the Munchkin Division, providing both 5 full-day and 3 full-day options. These programs maintain a low camper-to-staff ratio, ensuring personalized attention with each group consisting of 10 to 12 campers led by 3 to 4 staff members, with a primary focus on safety and attentive care.
A key emphasis within the Munchkin Program is on swimming. This program prioritizes building comfort and proficiency in the water, promoting aquatic skills development. Additionally, it fosters the enhancement of gross and fine motor skills through a variety of athletic and creative activities. These activities are guided by specially trained Munchkin Specialists who curate an age-appropriate and enriching experience for young participants.
Explorers (1st and 2nd Graders)
In the Explorers program, similar to the Munchkin Division, participants partake in athletic and creative pursuits, work on improving their swimming abilities, and cultivate social and emotional intelligence. First graders are introduced to adventurous activities like the Climbing Tower, Zipline, Giant Swing, and GAGA. As they progress to the second grade, campers have the opportunity to enjoy CHOICE periods, allowing them to select preferred activities on a weekly basis for a personalized camp experience.
Juniors (3rd & 4th Graders)
At Oak Crest near Martinsville, the Junior campers are immersed in a diverse array of activities such as Archery, Mountain Biking, Lacrosse, High Ropes, BMX, Skatepark, and Camper vs. Wild. Their program encompasses both athletic and creative endeavors, includes Instructional Swim sessions, and provides access to the Climbing Tower. Juniors also partake in Late Nights, extending their camp experience with additional access, special dinners, extra swim time, games, a unique event, and culminating in a twilight campfire complete with S’mores.
Seniors (5th & 6th Graders)
At Oak Crest near Martinsville, Senior campers partake in a comprehensive program that includes all camp activities, engaging in various advanced Choice offerings. They also embark on thrilling day trips, such as visits to Dorney Park. Additionally, Senior Late Nights are a notable feature, extending their camp experience with extra time, special dinners, added swim sessions, games, a distinct event, and a twilight campfire accompanied by S’mores.
Teen Travel (7th, 8th, & 9th Graders)
The Choice period at Oak Crest, situated in Martinsville, allows campers to choose their activity for the week. Each week presents a fresh selection of activities to pick from. In addition to the diverse array of athletic and creative pursuits, Senior campers have the opportunity to take part in our annual Drama Production or engage in a special Dance routine. This annual event is referred to as Showcrest, and the participation of Senior campers in both the Drama and Dance productions consistently stands out as a highlight of the show.
Social Development
At Oak Crest, located in Martinsville, camp counselors play a crucial role in guiding groups through team-building challenges and competitions. This approach is designed to cultivate skills in teamwork, support, and communication among the campers. The structured environment created by counselors also encourages respect and the formation of enduring friendships. Importantly, Oak Crest upholds a strict zero-tolerance policy against bullying and is dedicated to establishing a nurturing atmosphere where children and young teens can develop vital emotional and social skills.
LIT Program (10th & 11th Graders)
The LIT (Leaders-in-Training) Experience is an immersive program, designed for 9th, 10th, and 11th graders, that prioritizes hands-on leadership skill development within a dynamic setting. It concentrates on fostering problem-solving abilities, setting positive role models, and promoting effective teamwork. The overarching goal of the program is to instill a sense of responsibility in LITs, preparing them for future success in their academic pursuits and careers, while also equipping them with the potential to excel as outstanding camp staff members.
