Summer Camp near Middlesex
Oak Crest Day Camp, located near Middlesex, NJ, is a fantastic summer destination tailored to children aged 3 to 15. Known for its convenience, the camp provides door-to-door transportation for many families, making it an ideal choice for busy parents. Oak Crest offers a wide range of engaging activities for kids of all ages, ensuring that every day is an adventure.
For our younger campers, there are activities such as swimming, bicycling, rock climbing, and arts and crafts, all designed to make their summer fun and educational. As children grow, they can participate in specialized programs like special day trips and overnight excursions, offering an exciting taste of adventure and independence. These activities aren’t just about having a good time; they’re about fostering lifelong skills. Whether your child wants to learn to swim, become a biking pro, or develop essential social, teamwork, and leadership abilities, Oak Crest provides a supportive and dynamic environment for their growth.

3-5 Year Olds (Munchkins)
Oak Crest offers two program options for 3 to 5-year-olds in our Munchkin Division: a 5 full-day program and a 3 full-day program. We maintain a low camper-to-staff ratio to ensure personalized attention and a safe environment. Each group consists of 10 to 12 campers and is supervised by 3 to 4 staff members, emphasizing safety and attentive care.
One of the key focuses of our Munchkin Program is swimming. We place a strong emphasis on helping children become comfortable and proficient in the water. In addition to swimming, the program also promotes the development of gross and fine motor skills through a variety of athletic and creative activities. These activities are led by specially trained Munchkin Specialists who provide age-appropriate and enriching experiences for your child.
Explorers (1st and 2nd Graders)
Just like our Munchkin campers, the Explorers program focuses on a range of athletic and creative activities that help children develop their swimming skills and build social and emotional intelligence.
For first graders in the program, we introduce exciting activities such as the Climbing Tower, Zipline, Giant Swing, and GAGA, providing them with thrilling experiences that promote both physical and emotional growth.
As campers progress to the second grade, they have the opportunity to enjoy CHOICE periods. During these periods, they can select their preferred activities on a weekly basis, allowing for personalized experiences that cater to their individual interests and passions.
Juniors (3rd & 4th Graders)
The Junior program at Oak Crest offers a diverse array of activities that cater to various interests. These activities include Archery, Mountain Biking, Lacrosse, High Ropes, BMX, Skatepark, and Camper vs. Wild, ensuring that our campers have an engaging and well-rounded experience.
In addition to these activities, the Junior program includes opportunities for both athletic and creative pursuits. Campers can also benefit from Instructional Swim sessions and access to our Climbing Tower for adventure and skill-building.
As an extra treat, Juniors get to enjoy Late Nights at camp, providing extended access for special evening activities. This includes a delightful dinner, extra swim time, exciting games, a special event, and a memorable twilight campfire complete with delicious S’mores.
Seniors (5th & 6th Graders)
Senior campers at Oak Crest have a comprehensive experience that includes participating in all camp activities, enjoying thrilling day trips to places like Dorney Park, and having access to a wide range of advanced Choice options.
In addition to these exciting opportunities, seniors can look forward to Senior Late Nights, which extend their camp time into the evening. During these special evenings, they get to savor a unique dinner, enjoy extra swim time, engage in additional games and activities, experience a one-of-a-kind event, and cap it all off with a memorable twilight campfire complete with delicious S’mores.
Teen Travel (7th, 8th, & 9th Graders)
During the Choice period, campers have the opportunity to choose an activity to engage in for the week. This means that every week, our campers can explore a different activity from a continuously updated list of options.
In addition to the wide range of athletic and creative activities available, Senior campers have the unique option to take on roles in our annual Drama Production or participate in a special Dance routine, collectively known as Showcrest. It’s worth noting that the Senior campers’ involvement in both the Drama and Dance productions consistently stands out as the highlight of the show, showcasing their talents and contributions to our camp community.
Social Development
At Oak Crest, our camp counselors play a pivotal role in guiding campers through various team-building challenges and competitions. These activities are carefully designed to cultivate important skills like teamwork, mutual support, and effective communication among campers.
This structured environment is not only about fun but also about instilling values such as respect and promoting the formation of lasting friendships. We take a firm stance against bullying and uphold a zero-tolerance policy, ensuring that our camp is a safe and nurturing space where children and young teenagers can develop crucial emotional and social skills as they grow and interact with their peers.
LIT Program (10th & 11th Graders)
The LIT (Leadership-in-Training) Experience is a unique program that provides older campers in 9th, 10th, or 11th grade with practical leadership skill development in an engaging and dynamic setting. The primary goal of this program is to enrich the camp experience for younger campers by empowering these older participants to take on leadership roles.
Throughout the LIT program, participants concentrate on crucial aspects of leadership, such as problem-solving, role modeling, and teamwork. Emphasis is placed on fostering a sense of responsibility among LITs, preparing them for future success in college and their careers. Moreover, the skills acquired during this program also position them as potential exceptional camp staff in the future, contributing to the growth and well-being of younger campers while furthering their own personal development.
