Oak Crest Day Camp, located near Monmouth Junction, NJ, is an ideal summer destination for children aged 3 to 15. Known for its convenience, the camp provides door-to-door transportation, making it a stress-free choice for parents. Oak Crest offers a wide range of engaging activities for campers of all ages. Younger kids can enjoy swimming, biking, rock climbing, and arts and crafts, ensuring a fun and educational summer.
As children grow, they can participate in specialized programs like day trips and overnight excursions, fostering independence and valuable life skills. 3-5 Year Olds (Munchkins)
Oak Crest offers specialized programs for 3 to 5-year-olds in our Munchkin Division, emphasizing personalized attention with a low camper-to-staff ratio. Each group consists of 10 to 12 campers, supported by 3 to 4 staff members, ensuring safety and nurturing care.
One of our core focuses in the Munchkin Program is swimming. We prioritize building comfort and proficiency in the water, recognizing the importance of this skill. Moreover, our program goes beyond swimming and actively enhances gross and fine motor skills through a variety of athletic and creative activities. These activities are facilitated by specially trained Munchkin Specialists who ensure an age-appropriate and enriching experience for the young campers.
Explorers (1st and 2nd Graders)
Explorers, similar to Munchkins, participate in a diverse range of activities that promote athleticism, creativity, swimming proficiency, and the development of social and emotional intelligence. First-grade campers are introduced to exciting elements like the Climbing Tower, Zipline, Giant Swing, and GAGA, providing them with thrilling and memorable experiences. In the second grade, campers have the opportunity to choose their preferred activities during CHOICE periods on a weekly basis, allowing for personalized and enjoyable experiences.
Juniors (3rd & 4th Graders)
The Junior program at Oak Crest is packed with diverse activities designed to keep campers engaged and active. These activities include Archery, Mountain Biking, Lacrosse, High Ropes, BMX, Skatepark, and Camper vs. Wild. Within this program, there’s a strong emphasis on both athletic and creative pursuits, providing campers with a well-rounded experience.
In addition to these exciting activities, Juniors benefit from Instructional Swim sessions and have access to the Climbing Tower. They also get to savor the fun of Late Nights, which extend their camp access and include special dinners, extra swim time, games, unique events, and the highlight of a twilight campfire complete with delicious S’mores. This program ensures that Juniors have a memorable and enjoyable time at Oak Crest.
Seniors (5th & 6th Graders)
Senior campers at Oak Crest have the opportunity to engage in a wide array of activities, including all the camp’s regular offerings. Moreover, they get to embark on thrilling day trips to places like Dorney Park, adding an extra layer of excitement to their summer experience.
In addition to these adventures, senior campers can explore advanced Choice offerings, allowing them to tailor their camp experience to their preferences and interests. These offerings provide an opportunity for personal growth and skill development.
Senior Late Nights are another exciting feature, offering extended camp hours that include a special dinner, extra swim time, engaging games, a unique event, and the perfect ending to the day – a twilight campfire with delectable S’mores. This combination of activities ensures that senior campers have an unforgettable and enriching time at Oak Crest.
Teen Travel (7th, 8th, & 9th Graders)
Choice time at Oak Crest gives campers the freedom to choose an activity they’re interested in for a specific period each week. This means that every week, campers can explore a new activity from a dynamic and constantly evolving list. Beyond the range of athletic and creative pursuits available, Senior campers have the unique opportunity to participate in our annual Drama Production or be part of our special Dance routine, known as Showcrest!
Showcrest, our annual Dance and Drama Production, is a highlight of our camp’s performing arts program. The Senior campers play pivotal roles in both the Drama and Dance productions, contributing to the success and excitement of these captivating shows. This adds a special dimension to their Oak Crest experience, allowing them to shine in the spotlight and showcase their talents.
Social Development
At Oak Crest, our dedicated camp counselors play a crucial role in guiding campers through various team-building challenges and competitions. These activities are designed to cultivate essential skills such as teamwork, effective communication, and mutual support. In this structured setting, we prioritize creating an atmosphere of respect and collaboration, which in turn leads to the formation of lasting friendships among our campers.

LIT Program (10th & 11th Graders)
The LIT (Leadership in Training) Experience at Oak Crest is a hands-on program designed for 9th, 10th, and 11th graders. It’s a dynamic and practical leadership development opportunity that’s all about making a positive impact on younger campers. LITs engage in activities that sharpen problem-solving abilities, enhance their role-modeling skills, and foster teamwork.
One of the primary emphases of this program is instilling a sense of responsibility. We aim to prepare LITs for future success in college and careers by nurturing leadership qualities and a strong work ethic. Additionally, it opens doors for potential roles as outstanding camp staff in the future, making it a valuable stepping stone for those interested in pursuing such opportunities. The LIT Experience at Oak Crest is all about personal growth and laying the foundation for a promising future.
