3-5 Year Olds (Munchkins)
For parents residing near Somerset County, Oak Crest Camp offers specialized programs tailored to children aged 3 to 5 in our Munchkin Division. Our commitment to personalized attention is evident through our low camper-to-staff ratio, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment for your little ones. Each group consists of 10 to 12 campers, accompanied by 3 to 4 dedicated staff members, all focused on your child’s well-being.
Swimming is a top priority in our Munchkin Program. We believe in instilling confidence and proficiency in the water from an early age. Our specially trained Munchkin Specialists lead the way, guiding your child through age-appropriate aquatic experiences. Alongside swimming, we also foster the development of gross and fine motor skills through a variety of athletic and creative activities. This holistic approach ensures that your child not only becomes comfortable in the water but also grows physically and mentally during their time at Oak Crest Camp.
Explorers (1st and 2nd Graders)
Oak Crest offers two program options, a 5 full-day and a 3 full-day program, designed specifically for children aged 3 to 5 in our Munchkin Division. We prioritize individualized attention by maintaining a low camper-to-staff ratio. Each group consists of 10 to 12 campers, accompanied by 3 to 4 staff members, all of whom are dedicated to ensuring the safety and well-being of the children.
Our Munchkin Program places a strong emphasis on swimming. We understand the importance of fostering confidence and competence in the water from a young age. To achieve this, we have a team of specially trained Munchkin Specialists who lead our aquatic activities, ensuring an age-appropriate and enriching experience for your child. Juniors (3rd & 4th Graders)
In the Juniors program at Oak Crest, there’s a diverse array of engaging activities for children to enjoy. These activities include archery, mountain biking, lacrosse, high ropes, BMX, skateboarding at the skatepark, and exciting challenges like “Camper vs. Wild.” The program is thoughtfully designed to encompass both athletic and creative pursuits. It also includes valuable components such as instructional swim sessions and access to our climbing tower.
As part of the Juniors experience, campers get to savor “Late Nights” where they have extended access to camp facilities. This special evening includes a delightful dinner, extra swim time, engaging games, a unique event, and the quintessential campfire experience complete with S’mores. It’s a well-rounded program that offers fun, skill-building, and unforgettable memories for your child.
Seniors (5th & 6th Graders)
Senior campers at Oak Crest get the full camp experience, which includes all the exciting activities we offer. Additionally, they have the opportunity to embark on thrilling day trips to places like Dorney Park, adding an extra layer of adventure to their summer.
For our senior campers, we provide a wide range of advanced Choice offerings, allowing them to tailor their experience to their interests and passions.
Just like our Juniors, Senior Late Nights are a highlight of the program. These evenings extend camp hours and include a special dinner, extra swim time, engaging games, a unique event, and a campfire under the twilight sky with S’mores. It’s a well-rounded and memorable experience that combines fun, exploration, and camaraderie for our senior campers.
Teen Travel (7th, 8th, & 9th Graders)
At Oak Crest, we value camper choice and offer a diverse selection of activities during the Choice period. Each week, campers have the opportunity to pick a new activity from our ever-evolving list. This ensures that they can explore a wide range of interests and experiences throughout their time at camp.
Our Senior campers have even more options during Choice. In addition to athletic and creative activities, they can choose to take part in our annual Drama Production or participate in a special Dance routine. Our annual Dance and Drama Production, known as Showcrest, is a highlight of our program. The participation of our Senior campers in both the Drama and Dance productions adds an extra layer of excitement and talent to the show, making it a memorable and cherished event for everyone involved.
Social Development
At Oak Crest, our camp counselors play a crucial role in guiding campers through a series of team-building challenges and competitions. This hands-on approach fosters important values such as teamwork, mutual support, and effective communication among campers. Our structured environment is designed to cultivate respect and nurture lifelong friendships.
We take the issue of bullying seriously and have a zero-tolerance policy in place. Our commitment is to create a caring and safe environment where children and young teenagers not only have fun but also develop essential emotional and social skills that will benefit them throughout their lives.
LIT Program (10th & 11th Graders)
The LIT (Leadership-in-Training) Experience is designed to provide high school students, specifically 9th, 10th, and 11th graders, with an immersive leadership development opportunity. Participants engage in hands-on experiences within a dynamic camp setting, where they concentrate on honing crucial skills like problem-solving, role modeling, and teamwork.
This program places a significant emphasis on cultivating a sense of responsibility, with the ultimate goal of preparing LITs for future success in their academic pursuits, careers, and even potential roles as exceptional camp staff. It’s a valuable stepping stone towards personal and professional growth for these young individuals.
