Summer Camp near South Plainfield
Oak Crest Day Camp, located near South Plainfield, NJ, stands as an exceptional summer destination tailored for children aged 3 to 15. The camp distinguishes itself through its convenience, providing door-to-door transportation, alleviating the logistical concerns of many parents. At Oak Crest, a diverse array of engaging activities awaits campers of all age groups. Younger participants can delve into swimming, bicycling, rock climbing, and creative arts and crafts, ensuring a summer filled with both enjoyment and educational experiences.

3-5 Year Olds (Munchkins)
Oak Crest offers a Munchkin Division for 3 to 5-year-olds, featuring two program options: a 5 full-day and a 3 full-day program. This division maintains a low camper-to-staff ratio, typically comprising 10 to 12 campers supervised by 3 to 4 staff members, ensuring a personalized and safe environment.
A key focus of the Munchkin Program is swimming, with a strong emphasis on building water confidence and proficiency. Moreover, this program promotes the development of gross and fine motor skills through a variety of athletic and creative activities, all overseen by specially trained Munchkin Specialists who provide age-appropriate and enriching experiences.
Explorers (1st and 2nd Graders)
Explorers, akin to the Munchkins, participate in a range of athletic and creative endeavors while honing their swimming abilities and fostering social and emotional intelligence. First graders are introduced to exciting elements like the Climbing Tower, Zipline, Giant Swing, and GAGA. As campers advance to the second grade, they have the opportunity to partake in CHOICE periods, enabling them to select their preferred activities on a weekly basis for personalized experiences.
Juniors (3rd & 4th Graders)
Seniors (5th & 6th Graders)
Senior campers at Oak Crest near South Plainfield partake in the full spectrum of camp activities, including multiple thrilling day trips such as Dorney Park. Additionally, they have access to a wide array of advanced Choice options. The Senior Late Nights program extends their camp experience, providing extra time, a special dinner, additional swim opportunities, games, a distinctive event, and an evening campfire with S’mores.
Teen Travel (7th, 8th, & 9th Graders)
The Choice period allows campers the flexibility to choose a specific activity for the week. Every week, campers have the option to pick a different activity from a rotating list. Besides the numerous athletic and creative options, Seniors can also take part in our annual Drama Production or join our special Dance routine, collectively known as Showcrest. The participation of Seniors in both the Drama and Dance productions consistently becomes the highlight of the show.
Social Development
At Oak Crest, camp counselors guide groups in team-building activities and competitions that cultivate essential skills such as teamwork, communication, and support. This structured approach encourages the development of respect and lasting friendships. Oak Crest is unwavering in its zero-tolerance stance against bullying and remains dedicated to nurturing a compassionate environment where children and adolescents can acquire vital emotional and social abilities.
LIT Program (10th & 11th Graders)
The LIT Experience is a hands-on leadership development program for 9th, 10th, and 11th graders. It aims to enhance the camp experience for younger campers by emphasizing problem-solving, role modeling, and teamwork. This program places a strong emphasis on fostering responsibility and preparing LITs for future success in college, careers, and potential roles as outstanding camp staff.
