Teen Travel (7th, 8th & 9th Graders) Summer Camp near Highland Park
At Oak Crest, our Highland Park, New Jersey location offers a Teen Travel Program tailored to 7th, 8th, and 9th-grade students. Our teen campers actively engage in Oak Crest activities while also embarking on day and overnight trips beyond the camp grounds. Specifically, 7th graders attend camp on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, reserving Tuesdays and Thursdays for day excursions. In contrast, 8th and 9th graders follow a different schedule, attending camp on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and enjoying travel days on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Furthermore, teens have the option to participate in 2- or 3-day overnight trips to enhance their summer experience.
In our Highland Park, New Jersey facility, Camp for teens operates under a structured group regimen. Campers move in cohorts of 10-15, under the supervision of rigorously vetted counselors. The daily schedule encompasses two sessions of free swim, engaging activities like the Climbing Tower and Ropes Courses, a variety of athletic and creative pursuits, and two Choice periods. These Choice intervals provide teenagers with the freedom to select their preferred activities, offering an opportunity to explore a diverse range of options as they can choose a different activity during each Choice period.
In our Highland Park, New Jersey location, when our teens venture beyond the camp premises, we prioritize their safety by enforcing Oak Crest Travel Protocols. All Teen Travel campers and their parents are required to sign a Teen Travel Behavior Contract, ensuring adherence to our guidelines. Similar to other camp divisions, both the 7th Grade Teen Travel and the 8th & 9th Grade Teen Travel Programs are overseen by an adult Division Head, responsible for the camp division and accompanying campers on both day and overnight trips. Our dedicated Teen Staff undergoes specialized training to effectively supervise campers in public spaces and address the unique challenges of early adolescence.
