Teen Travel (7th, 8th & 9th Graders) Summer Camp near Somerset
At Oak Crest, our 7th, 8th, and 9th-grade students participate in the Teen Travel Program at our Somerset, New Jersey location. Teen campers enjoy engaging in Oak Crest activities and have the opportunity to explore various day and overnight trips beyond the camp premises. Specifically, 7th graders attend camp on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, dedicating Tuesdays and Thursdays to day trips. In contrast, 8th and 9th graders are at camp on Tuesdays and Thursdays, with travel days on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Additionally, Teens can opt for 2- or 3-day overnight trips.
At our Somerset, New Jersey location, teens at Camp adhere to a structured group schedule. They move between activities in groups of 10-15 campers, supervised by carefully screened counselors. The schedule includes two periods of free swim, activities such as the Climbing Tower and Ropes Courses, a range of athletic and creative pursuits, and two Choice periods. During these Choice periods, teens have the flexibility to choose the activity they wish to engage in, allowing them to explore a diverse array of activities by selecting a new one during each Choice period.
At our Somerset, New Jersey location, when outside the camp premises, our teens strictly adhere to the Oak Crest Travel Protocols for Safety. All Teen Travel campers and their parents are required to sign our Teen Travel Behavior Contract. Similar to other divisions within the camp, both the 7th Grade Teen Travel and the 8th & 9th Grade Teen Travel Programs are under the supervision of an adult Division Head, responsible for overseeing the division within the camp and accompanying them on both day and overnight trips. Our Teen Staff is specifically trained to effectively supervise campers in public spaces and handle the unique challenges associated with early adolescence.
