Teen Travel (7th, 8th & 9th Graders) Summer Camp near Watchung
At Oak Crest’s Watchung, New Jersey location, our 7th, 8th, and 9th-grade students actively participate in the Teen Travel Program. This program offers an engaging blend of on-site activities at Oak Crest and exciting off-site day and overnight trips. Specifically, 7th graders attend camp on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, reserving Tuesdays and Thursdays for day trips. In contrast, 8th and 9th graders follow a schedule where they are at camp on Tuesdays and Thursdays, while their travel days are Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Additionally, our Teens have the flexibility to choose between 2- or 3-day overnight trips to enhance their camp experience.
At our Watchung, New Jersey location, our Teen Camp follows a well-organized group schedule to ensure a fulfilling experience. Campers are grouped in cohorts of 10-15 individuals, overseen by rigorously screened counselors. The daily schedule comprises two sessions of free swim, a selection of activities including the Climbing Tower and Ropes Courses, a variety of athletic and creative options, and two Choice periods. During these Choice periods, teens have the freedom to select activities of their preference, encouraging them to explore a diverse range of options by choosing something new during each period.
At our Watchung, New Jersey location, the safety of our teen campers is our top priority, especially when they venture beyond our camp premises. We enforce strict Oak Crest Travel Protocols for Safety, which require all Teen Travel campers and their parents to sign our Teen Travel Behavior Contract. Similar to other camp divisions, both the 7th Grade Teen Travel and the 8th & 9th Grade Teen Travel Programs are overseen by an adult Division Head. These Division Heads are responsible for the camp division and accompany the teens on both day and overnight trips, ensuring their well-being. Our dedicated Teen Staff undergoes specialized training to effectively supervise campers in public spaces and address the unique challenges associated with early adolescence.
